What Inspired this track selection ?
Initially my idea was to just add a bunch of my all-time favorites into a big multi-genre playlist and select 30 tracks from that which worked together. But as I built it on Spotify, I came back to my old library, which has a lot of melancholic, smokey, sad boy rap. It’s not something I really play in my sets, but it’s something I’ve been listening to for years, and still listen to today. Almost all of these tracks carry a lot of emotion and nostalgia for me, both musically and personally. Listening to them feels a bit like sitting down with an old friend or partner.
So I decided to go fully in that direction: a step into young Max’s sad boy, stoner, melancholic internet rap world. A lot of SBE and DG, along with other Swedish rappers and personal cloud favorites. And I did my best to structure it from A to Z so it flows as a full, gloomy yet confident listening experience that makes you want to cry while also puffing gas and listening to Chief Keef.
Who’s Track Selection would you like to hear next ?
I’d love to see a similar selection from any of the artists/producers in this playlist tbh. Just to see what inspired them to create all this stuff. Maybe a bit ego but I’d also love to see my own playlist in 20+ years time. Would be interesting to see where things have gone.
New Projects you’d like to talk about ?
Yes for suure! Currently working on my first proper collection of tracks, with a sound and direction I’m having a lot of fun with. So I’m quite locked in on that for the moment. I’m hoping to have a lot of it ready to be played at HORST in May.
Along with that, in general just very hyped for the summer. I’ll have my first big festival gigs at HORST as well as b2b at Paradise City. So that’s going to be really exciting.
